Today's blog post differs from my regular "Photo of the Day" posts in that this photo was not made today. Or at least the original image was not made today.
This image is the result of my first foray into HDR imaging. HDR (high dynamic range) involves making a number of bracketed exposures of a scene and then combining them using software. This is often done because the dynamic range of various parts of the scene exceed the camera's ability to properly expose these in one image.
In this photo made at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park last Septmber, I combined five different exposures using Nik HDR Pro 2 . I then used this same software to convert the image to black and white.
