January 6 - On the Road

Pewaukee, Wisconsin:

We arrived here yesterday evening after an uneventful drive from Blind River. We left Gallagher's house on a bright sunny cold morning - minus 23C. Apparently this was the same temperature as it was here in Pewaukee yesterday morning.

As we neared Sault Ste. Marie, it became cloudy and started snowing, with winds coming off Lake Superior. The border crossing was routine. From here to St. Ignace, I-75 was partly snow packed, but the skies cleared, as you can see in the photo below. The highest the temperature got was -15C.

This morning here was sunny, with the temperature at -20C.

We plan on spending today visiting with my Aunt Aili and her family here in Pewaukee, and then hitting the road early tomorrow morning.
