This is the view from the balcony of our hotel room in Vagos. It's much better than you might think.
_02A1643 It may be nostalgia for times past that some keep these old fishing boats well-painted even if they are not sea worthy.
Today we visited the town of Aveiro north of Vagos.

Aveiro is called Portugal's Venice. That is an overblown claim. It is not even comparable to Annecy, France.
_02A1647 Aveiro has its own canal cruise boats for tourists, but not many canals.

_02A1654 Whatever canned fish you may crave can be purchased here. Not for me!

Nor would I buy any of the fish available at the local fish market.
_02A1683 Here a vendor delivers fish to a customer.

This appears to be chestnut gathering season. Hot chestnuts have been available in most towns that we have visited.
We then found this pastry shop, the oldest in Aveiro, to have coffee and ovos moles, a local specialty.
_02A1716 The filling is made from sweetened egg yolks. Legend has it that these were invented by nuns, who used egg whites to starch their collars. With all these leftover yolks, the nuns had to find a use for them. So we benefit.
This evening we again went out for dinner just down the street, at "Olive".
_02A1725 We drank a bottle of Dao wine.
_02A1727 Veda ordered tuna.
_02A1726 I had pork steak (as they call it here) with chestnut pure and spinach.
Another good dinner to end our day.
