March 30 - Springtime in the Okanagan

Spring has arrived in the Okanagan Valley. But you would not recognize this if you were at Silver Star Mountain Resort.

C_23_0112C_23_0112 This is what it looks like right now, in one of the residential areas.

The mountain has received more than 700 cm of snow this winter. There is still a lot of snow on the ski runs. The one way a skier would realize that it really is spring is with the mild temperatures and the clear blue sunny days.

But down in the valley it is a different story.

We have had very little snow in town in the last two months. Today it was +14°C.

Kalamalka Lake, which you see in the above photo, has been ice free all winter.

C_23_0117C_23_0117 In Kelowna the bikers are out in full force, as are the golfers.

C_23_0119C_23_0119 Further south, Summerland is living up to its name.

This is Phantom Creek Estate Winery in Oliver.
