January 13 - Arrived in Vernon

We left Helena, Montana, on Sunday morning. The drive north on I-15 to Great Falls was slower than usual because the highway through these higher elevations was largely snow covered. Nevertheless, this a very scenic portion. As we drove north, the roads cleared and the sun shone. We continued past Shelby, crossed the border at Sweetgrass, Montana, into Coutts, Alberta, through Lethbridge and on to Calgary. Here we spent the night with Mikelle and Aaron and Scarlet and Wyatt (their two children who Veda had not seen for a couple years).

On Monday we completed the last leg of our journey along the Trans-Canada Highway through Banff, Yoho, Glacier, and Revelstoke National Parks, arriving in Vernon just after darkness had set in.

This image is of Castle Mountain and the Bow River in Banff National Park.
