So here we sit in our motel room in this town on the Missouri River, but not because of its scenic location or other amenities. We sit here because the driving conditions along I-90 got so bad. Though the temperature this morning had risen to -5C, the winds were fierce. The blowing snow at times made visibility very bad. So we pulled into Chamberlain, drove around, and had a bowl of beef stew for lunch. We then drove across the old bridge over the Missouri to this small collection of highway stops and dug in for the day.
This photo gives a small indication of the conditions along the interstate.
