Day 10 - Going South in Slovenia

September 11, 2022  •  Leave a Comment

Today we left the Lake Bled region, but not before I got one photo of Bled Castle.

We took the autobahn south toward Ljubljana. Just before the city the traffic slowed to a crawl. This remained so until we were past the city. We had decided to not go into the city, which seemed to be a good decision. From there we took the autobahn east, toward the coast. We pulled off at Postojna and stopped for cappuccinos.

We then visited our destination, Predjama Castle.

This castle is unique in that it is built into a cave on a rock cliff, where the inhabitants would be safest.

This photo illustrates the thickness of the castle walls.

This is the apartment that we booked on-line last night. It is situated in a very small village, Gobisce, in the countryside south of Postojna..

Today was sunny and warm, 27C. After arriving here we a a short thunder shower which brought the temperature down to 17C.

Tomorrow we head north from here to the area of Slovenia near Austria and Italy.
