Day 9 - Unexpected Sunshine

September 10, 2022  •  Leave a Comment

So again the weather predictions were wrong. But that was good.

We woke up this morning to a sunny day, with white puffy clouds.

We stuck with our original plan to visit Bled Castle.

We read that the best reason to visit the castle was for the view. And this morning was perfect for that.

But we also did tour the castle. This is a view of the chapel's ceiling.

We then headed toward Lake Bohinj, the lesser known and thus less touristy area.

Church of St. John the Baptist

This is the Church of St. John the Baptist in Ribcev Laz on Lake Bohinj.

By now the weather was beginning to change, as dark clouds were rolling in over the mountains.

Heading back to our airbnb in Bohinjska Bela I stopped to photograph these unique hay drying racks.

This is a church on the outskirts of our village, with the rains approaching.

We'd driven by these colourful plastic bins a few times, so I finally stopped to check them out.

I did not check very closely - bee hives. Best not to get too curious.

Even though the dark clouds were overhead and rain had fallen, we thought that we would make one last venture to Lake Bled.

The situation was not very good for photos of the island church, but this was my last go at it.

Back at our airbnb, Apartma Klemen, I took this photo of Klemen's father's grapes on his trellis.

He had given us a couple bunches earlier. They were tasty sweet.

And then Klemen's mother gifted us this jar of their honey.

Tomorrow we head out on the road. Our stay here has been a great experience. Our hosts have been superb.
