One of my motives for travelling to Cuba was to photograph the cars in the country. Havana had an abundance of old North American vehicles, ranging from the late 1940s to the mid 1950s. Their conditions varied, from pristine to those that were barely in running condition. What surprised me most was the numbers of newer vehicles. These were either 1980 Russian-built Ladas or more recent Japanese models (many of these were modern taxis, probably government owned).
Many of these old cars operated as taxis, running on specific routes since there were no buses. Others hired out to tourists wanting to ride in a convertible seeing the sites of Havana.
Here are a few photos of the cars of Havana.
