Welcome to my blog, in which I post photos from recent travels and photography ideas.
These are posted irregularly, so log in at your leisure to catch my latest ramblings.

Our next stop, for two nights, was in Chefchaouen, in the Rif Mountains.
Chefchaouen is known as the blue city.
The buildings in its medina were washed in blue by its resident Jews in the 18th century, to contrast with the Muslim traditional colours.

After settling into our room in the Hotel Madrid, I decided to check out the near-by medina.
All of these photos were created after darkness had settled in.

The following day I spent exploring and photographing in this small medina.
Photos from then will be in my next blog. Stay tuned.
On this morning we departed Casablanca and drove north to Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

As befits a country's capital, Rabat is very modern and less frenetic than other cities.

This is the Mohammed VI Tower, currently under construction.
In Rabat we visited the Hassan Mosque and Tower.

This tower is all that remains of the original mosque.

This tower is 50 metres tall, less than its proposed 80 metres.

Facing this tower is the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

We then visited Rabat's Medina.

From here we could see the harbour and some of the medina's buildings.
T_24_0171
We could look across the river, Oued Bou Regreg, and at Salé. People could cross the river on these boats.
Here are a few images from within the medina.

And then we were off on the long drive to Chefchaouen.

These road trips usually included stops for snacks, refreshments, and washrooms.

I was surprised at how green these northerly regions of Morocco were and with how much agriculture there was.
Olive and almond trees were plentiful, along with various other crops.

Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques outside of Mecca. It is 20,000 square metres, with a minaret that is 200m high, making it the tallest minaret in the world. The mosque has space inside for 25,000 worshippers, and 80,000 more in the courtyard.

It is the only mosque in Morocco that non-Muslims can enter, though on a guided tour.
Here are a few images of its interior.

This is inside a very small shop along the street. The telephones were on its outside.
At one restaurant our group was served these small plates for sharing.

The following day we boarded our small bus and headed north to Rabat.
This spring we joined a photo tour to Morocco, "Colours of Morocco."
We flew from Montreal to Casablanca, where we eventually met up with all the tour participants.
Here is a selection of images from that first day in Morocco, in Casablanca.

As I edit my photos from this trip, I will post more images.
But be patient! This for me is a slow process.
I am again honoured to have my photographic art available at Perivale Gallery.
Perivale Gallery is located at Spring Bay, on Manitoulin Island.
These are my images which are currently available for purchase in person at the gallery or online.
