Greek Islands Trip - Day 8

Dateline Finikas, Syros:

It was another clear sunny and hot day in the Greek Islands.
We were up and at what we thought was a good viewpoint for the sunrise this morning, but the angle of the light from the rising sun was not optimal. So we went into Ermoupolis, the main town of Syros, and had a breakfast at a coffee/pastry shop on the harbour. It was delicious. The first photo is of one of the hills of Ermoupolis (the main town) with the Catholic church at the top, taken from the edge of the harbour.  The Greek Orthodox Church is situated at the top of the other hill.

We then drove up into the two hills of the town and walked around the narrow winding streets and up and down the stairway streets.
Then it was back across the island (all of a 15 minute drive) to our hotel for some relaxation, laundry (not me) and a swim in the pool - all so refreshing.
In the evening we drove northward to a view of Kini Beach from its overlooking hills (the photo below). But alas the evening light was dimmed by a large bank of haze on the horizon, so the colours were not what we had hoped for.

We leave on a noon ferry tomorrow on our hop to the next island - Mykonos.
