Familiar Location, Close to Home

Most of the time, my best photos are made close to home. Why is that?

First of all, I am familiar with the location. Second, when there are interesting weather conditions or great light, I can get to it quickly. One of these locations is a wetland just down the road from my house.

This was the case yesterday. A rain shower passed through, and then out came the evening sun. These are ideal conditions for rainbows.

S_13_0235 After the rainbow faded, I saw that there were nice clouds in the sky behind me, which is the scene that I most often photograph.

S_13_0240 Just last week I made another photo at this same wetland.

S_13_0224 Here are four other images I have made at this location at other times.

So become familiar with those great scenes near your home. Check them out under various conditions. I'm sure you'll be amazed with the great images that can be made.
