November 10 - Portugal, Day 24

The food experience here in Portugal does not receive high grades from us. On the other hand, our dinner on Friday night at a restaurant near our current lodgings was superb. We ordered a fish dinner for two, hake with rice and beans in a tomato-type sauce. The fish was very lightly battered, pan-fried, and very mild tasting. Of course, the wine as usual complemented the dinner.

Today is our last full day in Portugal. It looked good this morning before breakfast, but shortly thereafter began to rain. Even so we decided on a walk to the old part of the city.

So we decided to have a coffee break, and a pastel de nata, the Portuguese special custard tart.

Portugal has no shortage of these pastry shops and cafes. They are everywhere. I don't know if that is good.

This is just a little corner residence along a side street, hanging out laundry even in the rain.

Another urban scene in the rain. Enough! We decided to walk back to our room and pack our bags.

We have ordered a taxi to the airport for early in the morning.

Our flight departs at 10:30, scheduled to arrive in Toronto in the early afternoon.

So our Portuguese adventure comes to a close.

Veda and I will sum up our observations on a later blog.
