1-P_22_00911-P_22_0091 Last week we had a nice visit and tour with Hannah, Chris, Peter, and Anthony. We had planned to meet in Parry Sound to take in some music in the annual Festival of the Sound.

2-C_22_02722-C_22_0272 In that evening we took in the blues cruise on the Island Queen.

3-M_22_01193-M_22_0119 Jackson Delta was the entertainment on the cruise. It turned out to be a wonderful evening - the music was superb, the weather was perfect, and the scenery on the tour was, yes, wonderful. All together, a superb day.

The next day we played tourist in Parry Sound.

4-P_22_00894-P_22_0089 5-P_22_00905-P_22_0090 We visited the local market where we purchased some goodies, especially those I bought  from a French baker.

Our next touristy event was climbing the viewing tower near the museum.

7-P_22_00987-P_22_0098 6-C_22_02736-C_22_0273 This was the view over the town and the bay, with the CN rail trestle below.

8-C_22_02708-C_22_0270 After spending some time enjoying the town, we headed north to Sudbury. Hannah has to return to Toronto.

We enjoyed two great dinners at home the next two days.

9-P_22_00999-P_22_0099

The first was a superb fish dish by chef Chris. He brought all the ingredients with him.

We lucked out in getting this meal because he had left these all at home the weekend before on their visit to Muskoka.

Our gain was someone else's embarrassing moment.

10-P_22_010310-P_22_0103 The next dinner was a collaborative effort, with the main being lomo al trapo.

This is a Columbian recipe that was sent to me by cousin John in Wisconsin.

To make this, I soaked a tea towel in red wine and then laid it down flat. This was then covered with a quarter inch of course salt sprinkled with a Chimichurri herb and spice lend (the latter was my variation). The beef tenderloin was the laid on top and the towel rolled around it. This was then cooked on the barbecue. The charred towel and the salt crust had to be scraped off before serving.

We spent the following two days on Manitoulin Island, enjoying its scenery and food and beer offerings.

11-S_22_012811-S_22_0128 The boat moorings at Little Current.

12-P_22_010612-P_22_0106 A stop at South Baymouth near the lighthouse.

13-M_22_012113-M_22_0121 A bit of Manitoulin whimsey.

Then a return drive to Sudbury and a flight home to Toronto on Sunday for the guys. They did get there after a few delays!
