After my arrival home from our Greek travels, I was anxious to check out the fall colours. Getting up early was no problem as my body was still on Greek time, great for me as I'm not really a morning person.
The colours just west of Sudbury were brilliant, at their peak, as the two following photographs will confirm.

Simon Lake, Naughton
Oct12-1
Vermilion River, Whitefish
It turned out to be a very productive morning. On my way home, I ran into my friend, Mike Grandmaison, at Simon Lake. So we planned on meeting the next morning for a photo shoot.
So I was up at 5:00 a.m. to pick Mike up and we headed north to Capreol. As the day began to brighten, we were dismayed to see an overcast sky, but being intrepid souls, we carried on. At Rockcut Lake we spotted a glimmer of pink sky. Our patience was rewarded as the sky lit up spectacularly, as the following photo illustrates.
We then ventured toward Lake Wanapitae, where we found this grove of birches and red maples.

The overcast conditions were great for the saturated colours they produced.
These ended up being two excellent shooting days.
