We left Gillette, Wyoming, on a sunny mild morning. Gillette does not meet my standards of an inviting place. Besides having a strip coal mine, the town has an abundance of abandoned rusting cars in yards and fields. Not a pretty site. This photo was made just after leaving Gillette.

Photo taken near Buffalo, Wyoming. By the time we got to Sheridan the skies had clouded over. In Montana we encountered fog, with one particularly heavy patch at elevation just before Billings. But the weather then did improve as we had no more fog .And again the roads were bare and dry.
